A Scholarship that Builds Bridges Between Design, Cultures, and Territories

Chapters

As part of BC2’s Indigenous Scholarship, we had the pleasure of welcoming, at the end of May this year, Jordan Green, a proud member of the Metis Nation from Grande Prairie (Alberta) and a fourth-year Environmental Science student at Mount Royal University.

During her week with us in Montréal, Jordan took part in exchanges, visits, and meetings where discussions focused on urban design, landscape architecture, land-use planning, and Indigenous knowledge. The stay concluded with a gathering at the Montréal Botanical Garden, which also marked the launch of BC2’s National Indigenous History Month activities. The event brought together colleagues, partners, and guests for inspiring discussions on identity, land planning, and self-determination.

Jordan summarized her experience as follows:

“This experience showed me the power of design to connect people, culture, and the land. It reinforced how vital Indigenous voices are in shaping landscapes that honour both the environment and our stories.”

By welcoming an Indigenous Scholarship recipient each year, BC2 not only seeks to provide a rewarding professional experience, but also to create a space for dialogue and mutual learning.

“Beyond the experience offered to the recipients, these initiatives allow us to grow collectively.
They remind us that reconciliation advances through concrete actions and lasting connections.”
— Marie-Pierre McDonald, Vice President, Partner – Inter-Nation Collaboration

Through their continuity, these actions contribute to building lasting bridges between cultures and disciplines.
