Drummondville is growing fast. The city is about to cross the 100,000-resident mark, and that sustained growth brings as many opportunities as it does pressure on infrastructure, natural areas, and quality of life. To turn that momentum into an asset rather than a strain, the City built a strategic vision and long-term plan that will guide its development through 2041.

We supported Drummondville in building this territorial strategy, bringing elected officials, technical teams, and citizens together around a shared understanding of the city’s land use, mobility, economic, and environmental resilience challenges.

Housing and mobility anchor the vision. By supporting growth that’s responsible and true to the city’s identity and human scale, Drummondville addresses the real needs of all its communities: a more diverse housing and mobility offer that closes gaps in access to homes and services and really drives social inclusion. Density is directed to well-served areas, building complete neighbourhoods around integrated mobility hubs, safe pedestrian and cycling networks, and stronger transit service.

Drummondville’s economic vitality rests on consolidating and diversifying its business hubs, modernizing industrial spaces, locating office space where it makes sense based on role and transit access, and repurposing underused sites. Transforming large retail complexes, strategic land, and surplus parking lots opens the door to mixed, innovative, and accessible projects. These moves create jobs, make better use of land, and strengthen Drummondville’s position as a major economic hub and an attractive investment destination at the regional scale.

Environmental resilience runs through every part of the territorial development plan. Protecting natural areas, creating ecological corridors, greening neighbourhoods, and integrating nature-based solutions all help cut heat islands, boost biodiversity, and improve stormwater management. Building accessible, resilient parks, green spaces, and public spaces also helps the territory adapt to climate change, while supporting quality of life, community life, and vibrant neighbourhoods.
