Sustainable Urban Planning Support in Quebec City

The City of Quebec wanted to develop an interactive platform to promote Quebec City’s neighbourhood, their individual identities and their assets in terms of sustainable living environments. The project also aimed to support analyses and strategies to consolidate existing communities in a sustainable development perspective.

The City first commissioned BC2 to conduct a literature review on sustainable living environments, drawing on the most recent advances and the most appropriate concepts. It also wished to identify performance indicators to measure the quality and sustainability of this type of environment. The results of the review will be used to feed the interactive tool by informing and raising awareness among citizens about the various benefits of this type of place. The mandate then consisted in listing and analysing similar platforms. The goal was to draw inspiration from best practices and identify a solution adapted to the reality of Quebec City.

The final objective of the project is to offer a municipal platform adapted to the realities of the citizens of Quebec City. It encourages the creation of sustainable living environments in the “Capitale-Nationale” by promoting them to citizens and by supporting decision-makers and planners.
